In today's fast-paced and hectic world, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed and lost. That's why we're thrilled to bring you an interview with Jessica Rose Williams, the author of "Enough - learning to let go, simplify life and walk the path that's truly ours". Jessica shares her insights on simplicity, minimalism, and finding your true path in life, providing valuable advice and inspiration for anyone who's looking to simplify their life and pursue their dreams.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
Sure…hello everyone! I’m Jessica, I’m a writer based in the Peak District UK and I write about living a slower, simpler, more meaningful life. I also make vlogs for YouTube and take photos for Instagram. I started my blog back in 2018 when I started experimenting with minimalism and I’ve been sharing my journey on the internet ever since.
What inspired you to write "Enough - learning to let go, simplify life and walk the path that's truly ours"?
I found so much value, comfort and inspiration from reading other people’s stories when i set out to simplify my life and find more meaning so it only felt right to share mine too. I think the how tos are great but it’s people’s stories and struggles that we truly connect with.
Can you discuss the concept of "enough" and how it can help women let go of excess and find their true path in life?
So my belief and what i stand by is that we’re all enough right now, just as we are - that our self-worth just is because we are human. Life then, is about living from a place of already being enough and figuring out what our version of enough is in terms of physical things, how we spend our time and what actually adds value to our lives. This looks different for everyone as it should and here lies the fun. There’s no one blueprint formula.
How has your book and your work as an author and advocate for simplicity impacted your own life and the lives of others?
It was a dream come true for me to write the book. I had zero expectations in terms of how it would do stereotypically but it has found its way into the hands of those who it speaks to and I couldn’t ask for more than that. The aim of all my work is to make people think and feel and if I can do that then I’m doing my job. I feel very grateful to be able to do what I love for a living and I try to use my platform for good. It’s funny because everyone thinks you’ve officially ‘made it’ when you’ve written a book but I called myself a writer long before I was published and nothing much has changed since, it’s all a state of mind.
How do you balance your own commitments and goals with the demands and expectations of your career, family, and personal life?
The lines between my personal and professional life tend to blur but I’m used to it now. I like to think I’m realistic about what I can achieve and give myself the grace to do fewer things well instead of doing all the things not so well. My priority is always living over working though, even if this means earning less.
Can you talk about the challenges and barriers that women face in simplifying their lives and pursuing their goals?
I think it’s very hard for women to simplify because we’re constantly told we can and should have it all. This leaves us overwhelmed but the truth is our time is finite, we can only do so much which means we have to choose. This choice is new to us in terms of generations that have gone before us and it’s not easy to grasp. I think women benefit from minimalism the most yet it fascinates me the though leaders in the space are guys.

Can you provide some examples of how women can apply the principles of simplicity and minimalism to their lives and careers?
I think we can all benefit from raising our awareness around the difference between should dos and must dos. So often we’re conditioned to believe we have to do everything and we have to do it right now but this isn’t the case. There’s so much we can let go of, delegate or just stop doing. Focusing on what’s essential and actually adds value saves us so much time, space and money. I also think that realising being busy isn’t a badge of honour is very freeing and there’s no shame in indulging in what we enjoy.
What advice do you have for women who are struggling to simplify their lives and pursue their dreams?
No matter how overwhelming it feels, just start. If you’re feeling that tug in your gut, that’s your intuition calling. You owe it to yourself to not only answer but to listen. You deserve a life that feels good and lights you up. Starting is always the hardest part but one tiny step at a time you’ll build momentum and life will look very different before you know it.
What are some examples of successful women who have embraced simplicity and minimal
Christine Platt, Madeliene Olivia, Sara Tasker and Cait Flanders to name a few
In your opinion, how does simplicity and minimalism intersect with other social justice issues, such as consumerism, environmentalism, and sustainability?
I think there are many overlaps and in a world that pushes us into more more more all the time we’re always rewarded by taking a moment to pause, ask ourselves if these things are truly adding value to our lives then making decisions intentionally.
How can women who are facing financial, social, or other barriers overcome these challenges and pursue a simpler and more fulfilling life?
I wish I had the answers to big questions like this but each person is different and faces their own challenges. What I will say is I’ve come to believe life is so much more about letting go than it is about acquisition. This might be letting go of things, beliefs, people or pressures placed upon us. We always have a choice whether to pursue or let go and it’s in the letting go where the magic tends to happen.
What are your future plans and goals as an author and advocate for simplicity and minimalism?
I’d love to write fiction next

Is there anything else you would like to share with our audience?
The key to simplifying your life is to figure out your values, how you’d like to be remembered and then live in line with them. This is how we feel truly fulfilled and know we’re on the right path.
